Artist Statement
The favorite thing in my portfolio is basically the whole setup all of the picture have like something on common that makes them look like they belong together. They all have that something that lets you know that I created it. It may sound weird but that’s what I think.
My favorite thing looking back was that we were able to take control on our projects and that we were given sufficient time to complete our projects. We were taught many awesome techniques that were very helpful while creating the projects. Over the year I have learned many things especially to use Photoshop first of all. And also how to adjust the camera to take way better pictures. What I struggled the most with was the picture taking part especially when I had to be in the project because don’t like to take pictures of myself much I would much rather take pictures of other people or other things. I think that I could improve my camera skills by exploring more with the camera and figuring out on my own how it works.
What I feel that was an influence for all of these projects was that they actually related with things that are happening or were happening in my life. Which is really cool. I have really seen improvement with all of my artist statements because I feel that my point of view has changed since I have started to see things in a different perspective.

Personal Metaphor "An Angel slowly resigning to accept it's individuality as if there was no alternative
“An Angel slowly resigning to accept it’s individuality as if there was no alternative.”Basically I chose this metaphor because in life there are so many drastic changes that most of the time you have to accept but then there are times where you are so used to something that you just don’t want a change. It actually took me a while to figure out the metaphor so it wouldn’t sound so weird but I still think it could have sounded way better. In this picture well obviously it’s me with wings because well I am so used to trying to make the right decision even though to me it’s unfair or just not right. And sometimes well you slowly have to resign what you want to do or what is right to you to please others that are important to you in life.
What I think that I did well in this project was the colors I think that all of the colors complemented each other and fit in perfectly. But on the other hand I think that there is something missing in the picture. At the top of the picture there could be less blank space even though that is how the actual sky is a blank space. First of all trying to figure out what and how to place the things on basically a blank canvas is sometimes very tough. And at the end I feel good about my work that I have created but I still think that there is something missing.

Metering

Metering is when the camera thinks that it knows the grey scale and the grey colors. Well The Top picture is way darker than the bottom picture because when I took the top picture I held down the shutter button half way in front of the screen really close and then took the picture. And in the second picture I held down the shutter button on George's cheek and then took the picture. Holding down the shutter button half way tells the camera that ....that color is mid grey.. Spot metering will help me in the future because I will be able to pop out the color's that I would like to in the future.

Surreal Practice Tutorials

We prepared for our surreal project by practicing different techniques we may want to use in our projects. In this tutorial we learned the value of layering textures using blending options to create an atmosphere with dream like qualities.(http://www.photoshop-garden.com/view_tut.php?id=76Credit: Stock: hbrush.com Texture: moonchilde-stock.deviantart.com, 99mockingbirds.chanlu.orgText brush: shyndel.deviantart.com)
One thing that I learned with this tutorial was how to overlay the layers in very awesome ways and I liked that it made such a very cool effect and it made it way better than just adjusting the colors. I also like that it gave it that antique look.

We then followed this tutorial found at http://www.voidix.com/eye_manipulation.html to give us ideas and practice combining images, reversing natural laws, transforming objects and using Photoshop to create a realistic surrealistic scene.
One thing that I really liked was the overlay of the image that is reflected inside of the eye. one thing that I learned was how to use the dodge tool to make a very cool shadow.

Frames

I personally like the darker one because it's dark and that darkness makes the frame stand out and that's why I chose to do the extreme darkness because it's a little more different than extreme light. I Think that the pictures not being like ordinary pictures makes them artistic. Of course in my point of view. Next time I could probably take more time with the pictures to make them even better and think them out more better.

Arist Statement
I feel that so far my portfolio is going well with my work all of it is full of color and something new which expresses my way of being. That is exactly why I enjoy this class. I have truly learned many things this semester for example composition and stuff that help your picture become a photogragh. The project that I enjoyed the most so far was the social issue it was a very creative way to express ourselves. I think that what i struggle the most in is getting my ideas straight before beggining the project which means i have to work alittle harder on the brain storm but I think that will be easier in the future.

Lyrics
The Lyrics I chose for this project were “Monsoon and Break Away” by Tokio Hotel.“I'm staring at a broken door. There's nothing left here anymore. My room is cold It's making me insane. I've been waiting here so long. But now the moment seems to come, I see the black clouds coming up again. Running through the monsoon Beyond the world, To the end of time, Where the rain won't hurt, Fighting the storm,Into the blue, And, Together we'll be running somewhere new, Through the monsoon. Just me and you, A half moon's fading from my sight, I see a vision in its light, But now it's gone and left me so aloneI know I have to find you now. Can hear your name, I don't know how Why can't we make this darkness feel like home? I'm fighting all this power coming in my way. Let it send me straight to you. I'll be running night and day, I'll be with you soon.”
I chose these lyrics because every time I listen to this song I get this weird feeling that is hard to explain. Well I relate to these lyrics because well not everything in life is how you would like it to be and sometimes it is rough in this life. These lyrics Mean to me that well you will always overcome everything with no problem as long as you try. These lyrics make me feel that everything is possible as long as I try my best and give it my all.
Social Issue
Well first of all my social issue was that almost every girl desires to be just like the girl on the magazine. But that’s not what life is about .People put too much importance in their image that it’s crazy. I think everyone is different for a reason and if you want to be like someone else well good luck to you.My statement was Genuine Attraction I chose this statement because that is what people think when they see those top magazines with all of those supermodels. And the picture I chose I think went perfect with my statement.

Haunted Chavez
Well This Picture is basically Made because of Halloween. All of these ghostly things are in representation of this oh so special holiday.MY initial idea was so changed this was not what i was trying to go for. There were supposed to be normal people around but i guess they went away.
One of my difficult decisions that i had to make was what my whole theme of the picture was going to be.Well I had a lot of problems with my emphasis because it just wouldn't stand out. Which I don't really think that was fixed properly.I think that i did well in the ghosts they came out pretty awesome in my opinion. And well i think that i could have done a better job on this project if I had maybe gone with my first idea
Guardian
One foggy evening with almost no one in sight but a man. A man who is struggling to move, bend at least one muscle, But it’s all hopeless. No one is around to help. He is alone. He is caught on to some sort of branch that is coming out of the dead tree. He has been chosen to be the guardian of the nature around there. He is there to protect nature dead or alive. How he got there on one knows is there anyone looking no one knows. The only thing that people know is that some how he got there and is still there until this day. What I think that the artist was trying to show was that there is always something or someone looking after you. That guardian maybe horrible or beautiful looking it’s your guardian and that’s the way it is. Well truthfully I think that this picture has a dark side to it which is not the type of artwork I usually go for. Either way I think that this was a good photograph with some good meaning behind it.

Scary Expressions
When I see this Picture I think of a very ghetto scary movie. Also of a not so scary zombie person who wants to kill the good guy. Like always. This zombie looks kind of depressed and not so interested to kill the good guy of the oh so scary movie.
When i see this picture i think of this weird looking thing that will come and haunt you down at night. When you are being naughty. So Look out because i also have claws. Thursday, October 16, 2008
The Scream "My Interpretation"
I think that the man is screaming because he has just seen some thing that is just so ridiculously horrible to see with his own eyes. The only thing that I am not sure of is the gender of this alien looking thing but I assume that it is a man. This picture to me doesn’t express sadness it expresses horror the kind that you never would like to see or hear about in your miserable little life. And that Ocean behind him that can also be considered a pond or a river or a stream or a canal or a pool makes the picture look even more horrible because it is dark and haunted to any one who dares to enter the water or even see it with their own eye.

Creative Me

Adjustment Layers
In this exercise we learned about Adjustment layers. Adjustment layers allow you to add adjustments to your image on separate layers instead of directly to the image itself. This comes in handy during long complicated projects. In Photoshop every tool is specifically designed to help improve your photo. However, here we took some artistic liberties and explored adjustments creatively. Monday, September 22, 2008
Self Portriat
For our Self-Portrait project we were to take three self-portraits. They were all to be in black and white, and they were all to capture a mood of some sort. We were also challenged to be as artistic as possible, and stay as far away from normal, cliche portraits that we see on personal pages etc. as possible. One had to use the rule of thirds as the base for the composition; One had to incorporate leading lines, and one had to be taken from a more extreme angle
The portrait that was the most successful was the leading lines one.because the subject was just at the right distance.Next time i will try to be more creative with my portraits.
Overall i feel that it was an OK out come in my part because i know that i could have done better. Thursday, September 11, 2008
Contact Sheet

Extereme Angles
To take this picture i actually had to get on my knees on the hot concrete. What i like about this picture is the color and shades of grey. To make this picture better i could of had the model have a different facial expression & pose. Extreme angles affect the view of the photograph because it is from an angle that is not regularly seen or observed.Friday, September 5, 2008
MACRO
