Artist Statement
The favorite thing in my portfolio is basically the whole setup all of the picture have like something on common that makes them look like they belong together. They all have that something that lets you know that I created it. It may sound weird but that’s what I think.
My favorite thing looking back was that we were able to take control on our projects and that we were given sufficient time to complete our projects. We were taught many awesome techniques that were very helpful while creating the projects. Over the year I have learned many things especially to use Photoshop first of all. And also how to adjust the camera to take way better pictures. What I struggled the most with was the picture taking part especially when I had to be in the project because don’t like to take pictures of myself much I would much rather take pictures of other people or other things. I think that I could improve my camera skills by exploring more with the camera and figuring out on my own how it works.
What I feel that was an influence for all of these projects was that they actually related with things that are happening or were happening in my life. Which is really cool. I have really seen improvement with all of my artist statements because I feel that my point of view has changed since I have started to see things in a different perspective.

Personal Metaphor "An Angel slowly resigning to accept it's individuality as if there was no alternative
“An Angel slowly resigning to accept it’s individuality as if there was no alternative.”Basically I chose this metaphor because in life there are so many drastic changes that most of the time you have to accept but then there are times where you are so used to something that you just don’t want a change. It actually took me a while to figure out the metaphor so it wouldn’t sound so weird but I still think it could have sounded way better. In this picture well obviously it’s me with wings because well I am so used to trying to make the right decision even though to me it’s unfair or just not right. And sometimes well you slowly have to resign what you want to do or what is right to you to please others that are important to you in life.
What I think that I did well in this project was the colors I think that all of the colors complemented each other and fit in perfectly. But on the other hand I think that there is something missing in the picture. At the top of the picture there could be less blank space even though that is how the actual sky is a blank space. First of all trying to figure out what and how to place the things on basically a blank canvas is sometimes very tough. And at the end I feel good about my work that I have created but I still think that there is something missing.

Metering

Metering is when the camera thinks that it knows the grey scale and the grey colors. Well The Top picture is way darker than the bottom picture because when I took the top picture I held down the shutter button half way in front of the screen really close and then took the picture. And in the second picture I held down the shutter button on George's cheek and then took the picture. Holding down the shutter button half way tells the camera that ....that color is mid grey.. Spot metering will help me in the future because I will be able to pop out the color's that I would like to in the future.

Surreal Practice Tutorials

We prepared for our surreal project by practicing different techniques we may want to use in our projects. In this tutorial we learned the value of layering textures using blending options to create an atmosphere with dream like qualities.(http://www.photoshop-garden.com/view_tut.php?id=76Credit: Stock: hbrush.com Texture: moonchilde-stock.deviantart.com, 99mockingbirds.chanlu.orgText brush: shyndel.deviantart.com)
One thing that I learned with this tutorial was how to overlay the layers in very awesome ways and I liked that it made such a very cool effect and it made it way better than just adjusting the colors. I also like that it gave it that antique look.

We then followed this tutorial found at http://www.voidix.com/eye_manipulation.html to give us ideas and practice combining images, reversing natural laws, transforming objects and using Photoshop to create a realistic surrealistic scene.
One thing that I really liked was the overlay of the image that is reflected inside of the eye. one thing that I learned was how to use the dodge tool to make a very cool shadow.

Frames

I personally like the darker one because it's dark and that darkness makes the frame stand out and that's why I chose to do the extreme darkness because it's a little more different than extreme light. I Think that the pictures not being like ordinary pictures makes them artistic. Of course in my point of view. Next time I could probably take more time with the pictures to make them even better and think them out more better.
