Artist Statement

Well First of all what you will be able to find in my portfolio is a variety of pictures assigned by the teacher but created by me. My pictures are fun and thought out thoroughly. Some of the projects were not exactly what I had imagined but I always tried my best. You can also find all of my work and my reflections about it. I feel that my portfolio is pretty good because it is easy to read organized and full of color.
The favorite thing in my portfolio is basically the whole setup all of the picture have like something on common that makes them look like they belong together. They all have that something that lets you know that I created it. It may sound weird but that’s what I think.
My favorite thing looking back was that we were able to take control on our projects and that we were given sufficient time to complete our projects. We were taught many awesome techniques that were very helpful while creating the projects. Over the year I have learned many things especially to use Photoshop first of all. And also how to adjust the camera to take way better pictures. What I struggled the most with was the picture taking part especially when I had to be in the project because don’t like to take pictures of myself much I would much rather take pictures of other people or other things. I think that I could improve my camera skills by exploring more with the camera and figuring out on my own how it works.
What I feel that was an influence for all of these projects was that they actually related with things that are happening or were happening in my life. Which is really cool. I have really seen improvement with all of my artist statements because I feel that my point of view has changed since I have started to see things in a different perspective.

Personal Metaphor "An Angel slowly resigning to accept it's individuality as if there was no alternative

“An Angel slowly resigning to accept it’s individuality as if there was no alternative.”
Basically I chose this metaphor because in life there are so many drastic changes that most of the time you have to accept but then there are times where you are so used to something that you just don’t want a change. It actually took me a while to figure out the metaphor so it wouldn’t sound so weird but I still think it could have sounded way better. In this picture well obviously it’s me with wings because well I am so used to trying to make the right decision even though to me it’s unfair or just not right. And sometimes well you slowly have to resign what you want to do or what is right to you to please others that are important to you in life.
What I think that I did well in this project was the colors I think that all of the colors complemented each other and fit in perfectly. But on the other hand I think that there is something missing in the picture. At the top of the picture there could be less blank space even though that is how the actual sky is a blank space. First of all trying to figure out what and how to place the things on basically a blank canvas is sometimes very tough. And at the end I feel good about my work that I have created but I still think that there is something missing.

Metering

Metering is when the camera thinks that it knows the grey scale and the grey colors. Well The Top picture is way darker than the bottom picture because when I took the top picture I held down the shutter button half way in front of the screen really close and then took the picture. And in the second picture I held down the shutter button on George's cheek and then took the picture. Holding down the shutter button half way tells the camera that ....that color is mid grey.. Spot metering will help me in the future because I will be able to pop out the color's that I would like to in the future.

Surrealism: "Tye -Dye"

Well first of all you can really tell that you have been enjoying life as it is supposed to be. All of these symbols and colors can tell me very much about you life and inner feelings. The closed water bottle means that you are staring a very new chapter in your life that is spotless clean .The door well that’s something that is very interesting because it’s kind of dark but at the same time it has some weird colors on it. The door means that some one person like is trying to haunt you but your energy is way stronger so that is why the door has some color added to it. The water Oh!...The water it is so clean and full of life meaning that you are a very creative person with an awesome life. ....Also the leaves in the back that you tell me that are full of color mean that in your family history was extremely similar to you, maybe even looked and thought like you. Water drops in your dream clearly show well that there is some thing bothering you that you are trying to hide. Maybe sadness, sorrow or just hate towards that some one that you know.. Because you just being there alone is not always a good thing that means that ….that someone is getting in your way to meeting new people in life. Any way this dream is mostly positive but if you get rid of those people in your way you are more than likely to be a very happy camper all of your life. And thanks for stopping by for another of my wonderful interpretations.

Surreal Practice Tutorials

We prepared for our surreal project by practicing different techniques we may want to use in our projects. In this tutorial we learned the value of layering textures using blending options to create an atmosphere with dream like qualities.(http://www.photoshop-garden.com/view_tut.php?id=76Credit: Stock: hbrush.com Texture: moonchilde-stock.deviantart.com, 99mockingbirds.chanlu.orgText brush: shyndel.deviantart.com)

One thing that I learned with this tutorial was how to overlay the layers in very awesome ways and I liked that it made such a very cool effect and it made it way better than just adjusting the colors. I also like that it gave it that antique look.

We then followed this tutorial found at http://www.voidix.com/eye_manipulation.html to give us ideas and practice combining images, reversing natural laws, transforming objects and using Photoshop to create a realistic surrealistic scene.

One thing that I really liked was the overlay of the image that is reflected inside of the eye. one thing that I learned was how to use the dodge tool to make a very cool shadow.

Graduation Program

What I think I did really well on was combining all of the colors together and made it simple but straight to the point. I Think that on the back cover I could of put in a design or some thing to make it a little bit more interesting but other wise I think that I did a good job on this program. Graphic Design is way harder than what it seems...in my point of view graphic design takes lots of time, tons of creativity and experience with what you are doing. The most important aspects of graphic design is being able to get your point or thought through to all types of people. Some advice would be to probably be to do some small graphic design assignments and then give them the big project so that they can have a little more experience with graphic design.

Effects

My favorite effect was the emphasis one because its just an awesome effect. And it added more to the picture....

Frames

I personally like the darker one because it's dark and that darkness makes the frame stand out and that's why I chose to do the extreme darkness because it's a little more different than extreme light. I Think that the pictures not being like ordinary pictures makes them artistic. Of course in my point of view. Next time I could probably take more time with the pictures to make them even better and think them out more better.

I guess i can say that i do like my color pictures they are weird but cool I guess. I actually had a fun time taking the pictures. Next time I will probably try to take them on time and I don't know. I think they came out good .

Balance: Asymetrical V.S Symmetrical

Well to me symmetrical means evened out or balanced out. And Asymmetrical means unbalanced but at the same time easy to see and not weird looking. I think visual balance is important because most of the time it makes a picture look artistically balanced.

Group Collaboration

Well What i thought was the hardest was to try to get everyone in the picture and at the same time be creative with it. What i would do differently next time is probably move the people around differently but keep it within the same concept of the the water and the reflection.
